Polyester Viscose (PV) blended yarn — known as TR yarn in some markets — is the global standard raw material for suiting fabric. By combining polyester's strength, dimensional stability, and wrinkle resistance with viscose's distinctive soft drape, silky lustre, and moisture absorption, PV yarn produces fabrics that look and feel significantly more premium than 100% polyester, while offering far better practicality and durability than pure viscose. The result is the suiting industry's most important yarn: strong enough to keep its shape, soft enough to feel luxurious, and economical enough to outfit the world. Yaakan supplies PV yarn in the globally standard PV 65/35 and PV 80/20 blends, from Ne 20 to Ne 60, in ring spun and compact spun variants, FOB Xiamen.

Note on Viscose Price Volatility

PV yarn pricing is more volatile than polyester-only yarn because viscose fiber prices fluctuate with wood pulp and energy costs. We recommend requesting an updated quote close to your order date. We provide current pricing within 24 hours of any inquiry.

Why PV Works

Understanding the PV Blend

Polyester and viscose have perfectly complementary properties. The blend captures the strengths of both — and eliminates the weaknesses of each.

Polyester PSF
The backbone fiber
Strength✓ High tenacity & abrasion resistance
Wrinkle✓ Excellent wrinkle recovery
Stability✓ Dimensionally stable when washed
Drape✗ Stiff, synthetic feel
Moisture✗ Very low absorption (~0.4%)
Hand✗ Synthetic, slightly warm
Viscose (Rayon)
The luxury feel fiber
Strength✗ Weaker, especially when wet
Wrinkle✗ Wrinkles and creases easily
Stability✗ Can shrink when washed
Drape✓ Exceptional fluid drape
Moisture✓ Good absorption (~11%)
Hand✓ Silky, cool, luxurious feel
PV Blend — Best of Both
The result you get
Strength✓ Good — polyester reinforces
Wrinkle✓ Good resistance — easy care

Applications of PV Yarn

From mass-market uniform suiting to premium fashion dress fabric — PV yarn serves the full premium apparel market.

Suiting Fabric
The #1 global application. Men's suit fabric, women's suiting, blazers, and trousers are woven from PV yarn. The Ne 30/2 warp × Ne 30/1 weft construction in PV 65/35 is the global suiting industry standard, used by suit manufacturers from Bangladesh to Turkey, Egypt, India, and beyond. PV suiting combines professional appearance, easy care, and a fraction of the cost of wool.

Dress & Wrap Fabric
Women's dresses, wrap dresses, skirts, and formal occasion wear in fine PV fabric (Ne 40–60, PV 65/35). Viscose drape gives PV fabric the fluid movement and elegant hang that makes dresses look premium. Widely used by mid-market fashion brands across South Asia, the Middle East, and African markets where PV dress fabric has strong consumer appeal.
PV 65/35Ne 40 / Ne 45Compact Ring
Uniform & Corporate Suiting
Military dress uniforms, corporate blazers, airline staff uniforms, and hotel staff suiting require PV suiting fabric. The combination of professional appearance, easy maintenance, and durability through repeated laundering makes PV the preferred choice for institutional uniform programs globally. PV 80/20 is used for cost-sensitive volume programs.
PV 65/35PV 80/20Ne 20 / 30
School & Academic Blazers
PV suiting fabric is the global standard for school blazers and academic formal wear. The fabric holds shape and colour through years of institutional use. A major market across South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa where school uniform standards require woven suiting fabric. PV 80/20 in plain or twill weave is the standard specification.
PV 80/20Ne 20 / 30Twill weave
Traditional & Cultural Wear
PV fabric is widely used in traditional garments across the Middle East and South Asia — thobe, formal shalwar kameez, churidar suiting, and ethnic formal wear. The fabric's drape and appearance closely mimic natural wool suiting at a fraction of the cost, making it the dominant choice in markets where traditional formal wear is worn daily.
PV 65/35Ne 30 – 45Plain & twill
Premium Shirting
Fine PV yarn in Ne 40–60 (PV 65/35, compact spun) produces premium shirting fabric with exceptional smoothness, drape, and a silky feel superior to cotton shirting at similar price points. Popular for formal dress shirts in markets that value a silk-like hand without the cost of actual silk or luxury blends.
