DTY Feedstock
Polyester POY Yarn
Polyester POY (Pre-Oriented Yarn) is a partially oriented filament yarn produced by melt spinning at moderate take-up speeds. As an intermediate product in the polyester yarn supply chain, POY serves primarily as the raw material for draw-texturing mills that produce DTY. Its high extensibility and precise birefringence characteristics make it the ideal feedstock for consistent, high-quality DTY production. Yaakan supplies POY to texturing mills across South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa that seek factory-direct pricing from China's leading POY manufacturers.

Important Note for Texturing Mills
POY is a sensitive intermediate product. Winding tension, cone shape, and packaging conditions affect draw-texturing performance. All our POY is wound to standard cone specifications optimized for common draw-texturing machines. Please inform us of your machine type (Barmag, SSM, Rieter, etc.) and we will confirm the appropriate winding parameters.
Quality & Testing
Why POY Quality Matters More Than Other Yarn Types
POY quality directly determines the quality of the DTY produced downstream. Inconsistencies in birefringence, elongation, or oil pick-up lead to uneven DTY texture, broken filaments during texturing, and yield losses. Our POY is sourced exclusively from mills with continuous quality monitoring — ensuring your texturing operation runs at optimal efficiency.

POY's Role in the Polyester Supply Chain
POY is the critical intermediate that connects the petrochemical industry to finished textile yarn.

curtains, home textiles
Who buys POY from Yaakan? Primarily draw-texturing mills in India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Turkey, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Egypt that convert POY into DTY using Barmag, SSM, Rieter, or similar texturing machines. We supply POY when local supply is insufficient, when specific luster or denier combinations are not available domestically, or when our pricing is more competitive than local sources.
Applications & End Users
POY has two main user groups: draw-texturing mills (the primary buyer) and direct weaving applications where POY is used without further texturing.
The POY Production Process
POY is produced at lower take-up speeds than FDY, creating partial orientation that gives it the extensibility needed for draw-texturing.
POY vs FDY vs DTY
Understanding where POY sits in the polyester yarn family helps clarify why it is the right — or wrong — product for your needs.
